The Optimist Club of Knoxville is a voluntary organization of civic-minded men and woman banded together for community service, self development, and fellowship. Members are motivated by the desire to contribute back to the community from which they and their families draw daily benefits. They believe in encouraging the development of youth, in the belief the giving of themselves in service to others will advance the wellbeing of humankind, community life and the world.

Members are encouraged to develop optimism as a philosophy of life; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people.

From it's first meeting at the Atkin Hotel which stood at the corner of Gay and Depot Street in 1920 and now at the Foundry on the World's Fair site, the Optimist Club of Knoxville has gathered every Friday for fellowship and to serve the youth of our community.

Our club is a part of Optimist International with over 3,500 clubs across the United States, Canada and many other foreign countries
